| Returning the Lady To Her Seat | After a dance is over, the gentleman accompanies the lady back to her chair or other place of origin, usually with easy exclamations of pleasure and gratitude. He does not end a dance with a quick "thanks," and then bound off toward the snack table, leaving her alone in the middle of the floor. We should try not to desert or abandon our ladies. |
This semester we will cut a rug and trip the light fantastic with Dallas Perry.
| Acknowledge | ack | Recognise your partner with an implied "thank you for gracing me with your company." One standard acknowledgement is an "apart, point." A bit more old-fashioned is the bow and curtsey. Nowadays, we are more and more seeing "together, touch" or "together and shape" or "gather her to closed" (which are much the same thing); box finish; and off we dance. |
